Our Story

Michael's Chocolates was created in 2015. Michael had previously worked in pastry and attended the prestigious California Culinary Academy. He transitioned into a career in fine dining. Working in many of the Michelin starred restaurants of San Francisco. He specialized in hospitality; impeccable service and his love of wine led him to become Certified as a Sommelier. After months of "playing" with chocolates and confections, Michael decided to delve deeper into the chocolate world. Starting with the Chocolatier program at Ecole Chocolate. Michael has been mentored by some of the best chocolatiers and pastry chefs in North America and Europe. Melissa Coppel, Kriss Harvey, Chef Jungstedt, Andres Lara to name a few. Michael has received acclaim in numerous publications. He has been awarded various awards such as the prestigious Good Food Award, 2018, 2022, bronze medal from the International Chocolate Awards, Americas, Grand Master chocolatier and Best in Show, International Chocolate Salon. Michael's creations are influenced by his experience and knowledge of wine. Offering creations with balance, texture and pure flavors. Michael's Chocolates is located in the Grand Lake neighborhood in Oakland, Ca.
